The most important thing is that you know how to manage your emotions. Read on to know how you can deal with the stubborness of your boss.
Don't let emotions override your decisions on office duties
The most important thing that you need to do is to control your emotion. Do not let your anger or your frustrations override your decisions. Stay calm. Remember, he or she is still your boss. You still have to do your office duties. Try to make your boss understand your point. Give him or her a concrete example or the pros and cons of doing that and doing this. Just make your boss understand, and probably, your boss will realize his or her own mistake.
Listen to your boss first and then present your side of the argument
Before you do or say anything else, listen to your boss. Try to determine and understand the reason why your boss would not consider your opinion. If you still think that he or she is on the wrong side, then present your side of the argument calmly. Be a professional and speak gently eventhough your boss is a little annoyed or you are the one who is annoyed. You have to be tactical. You should know how your boss reacts and then think of a strategy that would make him or her listen to you. Try to grab your boss' attention by presenting a brilliant idea or argument.
It is important that you show respect and courtesy to your boss. No matter how stubborn he or she is, you need to be calm and reasonable at all times. In most cases, all problems are just a matter of misunderstanding. This is why a good conversation is necessary before you do something drastic. Remeber, your job is at stake.

It hurts to wake up feeling inadequate and unaccomplished. Many of us feel this early morning stress. With so little time and too many things to do, we all feel so frazzled up. Every damn day, work piles up and even if we sleep on it, there can only be more. The result: we are falling off short on every task. And believe me, it will affect you personally when you get the hang of leaving things undone. Procrastination is not a healthy habit.

What makes a winner and separates him from a loser? A winner makes it to the finish line. A loser stops midway through and hangs on the passing time. So even with speed and agility, he doesnt come too close in achieving his goal. Those who procrastinate are sorrow-laden losers. Unfortunately, getting past this habit is not that easy because it is a behavioral problem. But if you are willing to work diligently on a routine, it will pay off sooner than you expect it. An early accomplishment allows you the luxury of time, sound mind and body and a feeling of competence should you make it to the finish line.

Mankind was once doomed because of Eve and her apple. But even if Adam fell for her sinful trap, still I believe that behind every man's success is a woman. May it be a mother, a wife, a sister or an inspiration, let's admit it, we are manipulated by their beauty, charm, insight and cunning. And this, I believe, are the 4 weapons of femininity. Luckily, my wife possessed all the weapons to persuade a reluctant boss. And I share the sweet success of my promotion to an incredible woman. I know how some women restlessly complain and nag all the time. But if you'll just give them a chance, you'll discover an ace deep within them all.

It's been three overhwelming years of frustration with my boss, when will this end? Everybody hates that fat guy but hell, he can be fair and just, too. One time, I felt by-passed by a colleague for promotion. I was unhappy about it, a little grouchy actually, so my wife Anna invited my boss for dinner to kinda discuss it. I didn't think it was a good idea at first but surprisingly, my wife made a splendid job with dinner and hospitality. We never got to talk about my job but Anna shared his feigned sentiment to my boss' wife. She said that maybe I'll spend more time with her and the family if I have a better job. The next day, I got the promotion. And I know exactly who's behind it. Tough guess? Manipulative women!

So how do you get to play golf with your boss? You've tried every damn thing possible and he still wouldn't play with you! Gifts, favors, remarks and praises, all those suck up strategies and your boss still thinks you're a wallflower. But there are also times when they take advantage of it. They know what you're doing so they deliberately refuse. One effective way is to bond with his family. Of course, he won't appreciate the idea of intrusion but what can he do if his wife has found a female companion in your partner. Believe me, after a successful dinner, you'll be treated better. Eventually he will get to trust you more.

Have you ever played "connect the dots"? I know it sounds as silly as "pin the donkey's tail"! I even remember how my mischievous management instructor would pull out a so-called bonus paper. If you can follow the instructions in it, you're off the hook and you can go. There are different patterns but the one I remember was tracing a star out of dots. You cannot lift the pen, you'll do it in five strokes, and the lines should never cross each other's path. It was really tough, but I was enlightened by his devious tricks when my instructor explained the purpose of those dots. He said that by triumphing over a series of incredible dots, we are pushed to think out of the box, hence, connecting our dots to creativity. Management, according to my professor, is all about finding simple solutions to a less than ordinary problem.

We all thrive in our own comfort zones where we feel all the more confident in our skillful corners. But when you're a manager, you're not only exhausted physically but challenged mentally. Everyday, you have to step up your game from mediocrity. You are confronted with series of problems everyday. Even if you sleep on it, there could only be more the next day. Disasters will continue to pile up and unless you use your wit and skills, you're doomed with pressure and stress in running a damn office jungle. So be the king of the jungle by moving out of your comfort zone and exploring all the possibilities.

Management is like a maze or a jigsaw puzzle. You always have to find a good strategy out of challenging barriers and scenarios. You have to put the pieces together and see the big picture. There's too much responsibility with too little time, and sometimes, you're just about to blow your head off. The more you're involved, the harder it is for you to come up with solutions. If I were you, I'll step out of my box for a minute and assume a third person point of view to see better and inspect every angles. We always fail to see the glaringly obvious details. Don't be boring and conventional. Try to be radical and exciting every once in a while.

If you wish to strangle your nagging wife, give your boss a knock out punch, and leave your child to a stranger, don't worry, you're only stressed-out. The domestic drama and corporate jungle are just messing with your life. That's a common sentiment among us all. So suck it up and don't flare up the drama. You don't have to be perfect, this isn't heaven, this is the so-called damn reality of life! But if you feel the water rising from your brain when full moon looms at night, chances are you might be burnt out.
Saturday, April 21. 2007
You get stress from every loose ends of your life. You hear yourself often complain like you're destiny's fool and you live life like a joke. It's how things are and you can't change any bit of it . You are in a wave of emotion. Everytime you want to rise up, you also feel the need to sink down. Ever wonder why there are times when we are overjoyed and we can no longer wish for more but the next day, then afterwards you sink low in overwhelming sadness? That's a natural human trait. We are all have our mood swings more severe than a roller-coaster ride.
Friday, April 20. 2007
However, if you don't feel that life is a horrible joke but more as an evil curse, then maybe you're reaching a worst case scenario of being burnt out. You get burnt out when stress piles up enough to take over your zest for life and stifle your will to move on. When situations change, you can readily relieve stress. But when you're burnt out, the situations don't instantly change the way you feel. Like a loose rubber band, you're losing the resilience of your spirit. This is a raging phenomenon in life especially in the workplace. Before you get burnt out, respond to stress immediately before it piles up to build a wall of depression.

You won't need an ancient mantra or a spooky spell. It won't even work just so your boss could lend an ear. They're stubborn as a bull and they're full of suicidal ego. It's a universal standard for a jerk.
The safe and effective trick to cheat the boss as a puppet is to live and let live. Tolerate him, even his craziness. You could argue with him all your life and win on several occasions, but he's still the boss. He would counter every reasonably sounding information and advice. Nobody wins against an ego, believe me.
Stop fawning like a dog. He might think you're after the position. When everybody's against him, try to hear his point. Make it seem like there's sense in his dire foolishness. Believe me, he'll still despise you but he'll open up more, enough to make you his golf buddy.
When you're already at ease with his stinking breath and you seem to make a perfect attendance whenever he explodes to justify a stupid cause, that's the time when you can react. Take it slow, little by little, creep into his willpower and judgment. Stay humble while you move him like a puppet. Before your boss realizes it, you have him by the neck to even resist the hypnotic spell.

If there’s one metaphor to describe an effective manager, that will be fire and ice. Fire because the position itself is synonymous to a hot seat. You’ll get your ass burned out by simultaneous pressure and relentless beating from disdainful subordinates and delusional superiors. Ice, because to outwit and survive this jungle feat, you’ll have to play it cool. No bling-blings please and oversize jerseys of Eminem! Stick to your corporate suit, but keep your poise and composure intact. Even if harassed and almost crazed, learn to hide tension behind the covers and sizzle with unperturbed confidence. That’s a secret even used to win the Miss Universe. For decades, these ladies almost made us believe that swimsuits match the high heels. It’s utterly absurd, but as always we assume elegance. Back stage, they must be fuming like wild cats but in front of the camera, they make it seem like they’re so pure to love each other so much when they actually wishing each other bad luck. As a manager, you won’t be competing for love or friendship, but at least the benefit of respect when you make it seem like things are under control and you know what to do.
“Most of the time, I come up with stupid ideas. Better have some thing to say than nothing at all!” and according to Gregg Matthews, it’s 99 % effective. Nobody wants to see a deflating ego and a plummeting confidence level of an ass hole right before their very eyes, especially when office crisis breaks out. That will be an awful sight. “Give them something to believe in, or else they’ll scoot out like pigeons”, the sales manager confessed. Management isn’t all about the glamor of planning and goals setting. The filth comes right in when you need to contain the situation at hand and control the crack before it blows out.
When in a lot of stress, try these tricks to relieve the tension. Tap your feet on the floor, breathe deeply and when you don’t know what to do, act as if you’re angry or you’ve got a bad temper. Don’t let stress crack you up; as soon as it does you’ll be in a wild goose chase. Think and solutions will dawn on you like the breeze after heat.

Why do we always hate our boss worse than our mother-in-laws? The mother-in-law, I would understand, but why the boss? Isn't it unfair to fancy him as a fat-ass jerk with a lurking tail? Hell, no! That's the least we could feel after he stamped on our careers!
When you're the boss, don't go fawning at your inferiors to win. You're not running for Congress, you're running a damn office mess! This is a big no-no says Charles, a sales manager for a New York firm. "If Donald Trump is fair and sweet, you definitely won't see him owning half the world by now".
Charles confessed that while he's a doting father and a loving husband at home, he's a nemesis at work. "That is the only way they can take you seriously, believe me!", Charles explained. Though he's in sales, I think it's one of the rare occasions when he spoke of truth. It's a jungle out there, and in order to stop the messy, crazy antics at work, the boss has to roar like a Lion King.
Really now, I can't imagine myself working my ass off if I don't hate my boss. Without him raising the living hell out of me, I don't think I could perform dearly to hold on to my job. Maybe that's part of the office delusional mystery. The boss needs to be strong and firm even if he's wrong. At least that will unleash the drive to persist and insist. No one dares to thwart a father, only the sleaziest jerk.
That's how the world works, and I don't want to fight back the waves of culture. I'd have to say that's stupidly genius! To be intimated by your boss, you actually come up with good results, good work.
Sunday, April 8. 2007
For your overworked staff, you are the Anti-Christ of their corporate dome (or doom!). You raise hell while your fat-ass gets the credit for their job well done. You cannot blame them or sincerely hate them. Just imagine the soap opera of their cubicle drama where life revolves around the 8 x 8 cell and their sorry excuse for life is the virtual world of a lifeless computer (and you'll know where they're coming from!). But what sucks in this life is you have to kiss somebody else's ass, and they also have to kiss yours!
But don't you leap from joy just yet because your food chain has its own share of savagery. Remember the proverbial whim "the customer is always right?" Well, it's time to fawn at your feet and deliver your fancy best to your delusional clientèle.
A good manager effectively deals with his customer without saying no. A no-no is a form of business suicide. You don't directly say no, but you just say it in another way. Something that will still leave a positive note of goodwill when actually, you just want to bury them six feet under for their death wish. This is where euphemism comes in.
As ridiculous as the English language can be, so are clients' logic! For instance, a boxing ring is not round but actually square; Guinea pig is not a pig nor from Guinea; or a hotdog is not dog meat. So is clients' logic. When you refuse an offer, you don't say "Take your shit some place else!" A wise manager would say "These are the things we can do", while you're deviating from the real point. They don't want to be confronted with the blatant truth. They want your expertise in creating alternatives they don't actually need.
So in the end, everybody get their hell of a fair share. Your manager gets the sack too! Or better yet, the big boss gets nagged from his philandering wife or tricked with half his treasure chest with a divorce!

What is a manager and what is a leader? In a corporate set-up, they are taken as one. But pushing it further to philosophical premise, what makes a manager a leader? And is a leader always a manager? Before you jumble up with the manager-leader titles, here are some simple but sensible clarification of the issue.
What is a manager? A manager is a title upheld by a person in his or her position in the company. He or she then takes the role in overseeing or sometimes overdoing management tasks. On the other hand, a leader is defined by a charismatic character or personality. A leader can influence the minds and the acts of a certain group. Simply put, a leader is a courageous fellow who speaks the same ideals but stands out in the ordinary. A leader speaks and the leader is heard.
To be a good and competent manager is first to be a leader. Exemplify leadership beyond the precious job title, that way, you earn trust and respect among your staff. Meanwhile, a leader isn't always the manager. A leader can be anyone in the group that has a peculiarly special trait of dealing and leading people- a union leader, student leader, gang leader or even a spiritual leader.
Manager versus leader...title versus character! A leader isn't always a manager but a manager should be a leader. Not all managers are born leaders, earn it among your people. Be responsible, sensible and be worthy of being heard and followed.

The success of any business venture is not only dependent on great business ideas. Business success will also depend on how effectively these business ideas be carried out in the real world. Many ideas fail because entrepreneurs fail to adapt these ideas into the everyday challenges of business operations. Business ideas became stagnant and inflexible. Entrepreneurs fail to realize that their business ideas should respond to market demands instead of the other way around.
Aside from external market factors, there are internal factors that can affect the efficiency of a business venture. One internal factor is management. There are several types of management, but all of these involve direct human interaction. The main asset of a business is not the financial resources, but rather the human resources.
A manager may have the technical skill, but he may still be ineffective. A manager primarily needs more people skills than technical skills. A manager should be capable of motivating people to perform efficiently. Hence, effective management boils down to personal effectiveness of the manager. A manager must be capable of sympathizing with the needs of his people.

Everyone wants to feel useful and relevant. Whether it be in the workplace, the home, in school, and any other function or situation which has social relevance. Now, you may think that being effective requires much work and effort. Well, it doesn't really take much to be taken seriously. All you have to do is to take yourself seriously and understand yourself. You see, if you want to make a change, then, you start with yourself and all the rest follows.
Personal effectiveness isn't just applicable in the workplace. With all your daily tasks, you need to be effective to be able to move on to another task. Personal effectiveness also require self-control and balance. These are very important aspect in financial planning strategies. I think that self-management is like the domino effect. Once you've conquered and achieved something, you can take on anything. It's also a matter of self-confidence and trust. Who can better understand you and trust you, but yourself? At the end of the day, everything will rely on the choices you make and the goals that you would want to achieve. Someone once said, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Hence, you yourself can make things better for your life alone.
You have to focus on what's positive and never dwell on what's negative. If you focus on the negative aspect of life, then that would really put you on a low position. Being low will not make you effective. Your liabilities can be your bench mark. You improve on the things that you think needs development. You enhance your skills that make you effective. To cut things short, being effective is being open for changes. It's being understanding enough to improve yourself. Once you get to this point, you can easily take on whatever comes your way.

What will you do if you just learned that your officemate's birthday will be two days from now? Of course, it doesn't mean that you have to give him or her a gift. But if you really want to give gifts, cards are the best gift to give to your co-workers. You can write what you feel about them, you can write sorry for misunderstandings in the past and how much you enjoy working with them.
In case he or she is your boss, it's the same. Just because he/she is the boss doesn't mean he/she should be getting something nicer. If your find cards very mushy and too personal, you can give them cookies wrapped individually. You can also give those key chains, penholder, picture holder or any materials that they need on their desks. Just remember to give your gifts with a smile and a wish of harmonious relationship with one another.

According to several company executives, employees though require salaries and other perks should be regarded as assets and not liabilities. In every company rule book, there is always a clause, which states that employees should be able to establish an interaction with their bosses. The emphasis of this notion as what great managers believe starts with them.
It is no secret that employees are keen in making a good relationship with their managers. In a working environment, it is advantageous to have a very peaceful and professional atmosphere. However, top manager should make the first move to establish the communication. This is because a lot of employees would feel inferior to their bosses and just rely on non-verbal communications. For managers, nothing is lost when they do the approach and establish what has to be set.
In the ever changing corporate world, managers always modify their methods of communication. Still, the value of making a bond with the employees should not be overlooked. The success of the company depends on the relationship of the executives and the rank and file.
