Have you ever played "connect the dots"? I know it sounds as silly as "pin the donkey's tail"! I even remember how my mischievous management instructor would pull out a so-called bonus paper. If you can follow the instructions in it, you're off the hook and you can go. There are different patterns but the one I remember was tracing a star out of dots. You cannot lift the pen, you'll do it in five strokes, and the lines should never cross each other's path. It was really tough, but I was enlightened by his devious tricks when my instructor explained the purpose of those dots. He said that by triumphing over a series of incredible dots, we are pushed to think out of the box, hence, connecting our dots to creativity. Management, according to my professor, is all about finding simple solutions to a less than ordinary problem.
